2023 Homecoming Parade

WVU has announced plans for a 2023 Homecoming Parade. Please note that as with anything, information can change. Please check regularly for updated information. 

Attire Guidelines - You are encouraged to wear a blue shirt/jacket (Alumni Band/WVU themed/vintage uniform jacket, etc.), dark blue jeans, and sneakers. If you wish to wear a ball cap, please wear a WVU themed hat.

4:00-5:45pm - The equipment truck is open at the North High Street Parking Lot. Get there early to check out your equipment for the weekend. Truck volunteers should arrive no later than 4:00pm. The truck closes and leaves promptly at 5:45pm. Rentals are only available for those who complete a registration form. We will not have extra on the truck. IF YOU ARE LATE YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE A REFUND. Please bring your completed rental form and $50 deposit with you to pick up your instrument.

4:30-5:15pm - Gather early on North High Street next to the Chi Omega house and Panera Bread.

Very limited copies of music will be available (Fight Mountaineers and Hail, West Virginia). It is highly suggested that you check online for your music to print and bring with you. 

Plan to arrive early to avoid traffic and find convenient parking. Parking downtown is a challenge. If you can’t find a parking spot on the North High Street parking lot, please park in the downtown parking garages on Spruce and Chestnut Streets; parking in the garages allows you to park for up to 10 hours, as opposed to two hours on most street meters.   

5:15pm - A short rehearsal will happen around this time to go over music and to line up for the parade.

5:40pm - We will be building the parade block a bit differently this year by calling sections to the street one at a time. Please listen carefully for your section so  everything moves quickly and easily.

The equipment truck will be parked in the upper lot of Sheetz around the corner from the end of the parade route. John will be at the end of the parade to escort you to the equipment truck. Please ensure that anything you want to go over to the stadium for the following morning is on the truck. Once the truck leaves the Sheetz parking lot, it will be going straight to the stadium in preparation for game day activities.
