2023 TBT Fairmont Scrimmage and Wheeling Tournament

The WVU Alumni Band has been invited to play for the Best Virginia team in the 2023 TBT Basketball Tournament. The tournament organizers provided specific guidance for participants. Please be sure to read through all of the details below concerning both events. Registration is required in order to participate.

Attire - Khaki pants and the new navy blue pep band shirt are requested. Please try to wear an official WVU Alumni Band T-shirt. If you do not have one of our official shirts, a navy WVU shirt will be fine to wear. All clothing and masks must be family friendly. The band will be seen on ESPN sports channels for this event. (Per tournament organizers.)

Equipment - If you have need of an instrument (for example, tuba, percussion, etc.) and do not have access to it through your personal resources, please let us know and we will try to provide it for you. Warm-up/Music - The pep band members will be taken to a staging area upon arrival.There will be some time to run through the tunes. Music can be found on the WVU Alumni Band website (www.wvualumniband.org) under your instrument section after you log in.

COVID Procedures - At this time, there are no COVID restrictions in the Joe Retton Arena or the Wesbanco Arena. Please wear a mask if you feel you need to! Please keep masks plain and devoid of political or objectional messaging. (Per tournament organizers due to ESPN broadcasting.)

Fairmont, WV Scrimmage

Schedule - Tipoff is at 7pm on Saturday, July 15th. Call time for rehearsal and setup is 5:45pm. We will meet in the Weight Room of the Joe Retton Arena.

Tickets and Guests - The event is FREE for those participating in the Alumni Band. Guests are welcome to purchase a ticket at the gate. Guests will be seated with the general public. Non-alumni band members will not be permitted in the music area.

Parking/Facility Entrance - We are awaiting information. More information will be provided as soon as possible.

Registration/Deadline - The registration deadline is Noon Thursday, July 13, 2023. Event organizers have requested a list of attendees be passed to them that same day.

Pre-Game Meal Event - We are planning to have an optional pre-game get together at Muriale’s in Fairmont prior to the game. The tentative start time is 3pm. Each person is responsible for their own meal costs and waiter gratuities. If you would like to join us, please check the box provided on the registration form so we can give Muriale’s an accurate headcount in advance.

Wheeling, WV Tournament

Schedule - The Best Virginia team will play on Tuesday, July 25^th against Dubois Dream. Should Best Virginia win, they will advance to play on other days this same week.

Tuesday, July 25 – tipoff is at 7pm against Dubois Dream. Call time for rehearsal in the warmup room is 5:45pm for rehearsal and then set up in the arena.
Thursday, July 27 (if we win Tuesday) tipoff will be at 7pm. Call time will be one hour prior to tipoff.
Saturday, July 29 (if we win Thursday) tipoff 2pm. Call time will be one hour prior to tipoff.
Sunday, July 30 Quarterfinals (if we win Saturday) tipoff 4pm. Call time 3pm.

PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THIS IS A TENTATIVE SCHEDULE. We will know more as soon as the TBT releases the line up.

Note: Each performance is dependent on the number of members registered to perform. When registration closes, an updated performance schedule will be posted.
