Important St. Patrick's Parade Notes

Attire – Blue pants or jeans are recommended with a white shirt.  WVU would only approve the parade t-shirt in white.

Parade T-Shirt - A special t-shirt has been designed for this event.  Please visit the Merchandise page to place your order.

Morgantown Bus If you are interested in joining others and taking a bus from Morgantown, Please contact Wanda Hembree at wandahwv83@gmail.com.  If there are enough people, a bus can be rented and the cost shared by those using this service.  It would leave and return to Morgantown on the day of the parade.

Parade Rules Read parade rules from the Pittsburgh St. Patrick’s Parade Committee.

  • NO ALCOHOL before or during the parade. If you are drunk, you will not march. There is time for celebration after the parade! Please read the policy.  It has been updated to include parade participation.
  • NO OFFENSIVE T-SHIRTS, SIGNS OR LANGUAGE – Remember we are a recruiting tool for WVU and The Pride of WV.  Let’s not embarrass WVU, the Creative Arts Center or the residents of West Virginia.

Parking – More information will be provided at a later time concerning parking.

Parade Line-up - We need to be at line-up by 9:00am.  The parade begins as 10:00am. We plan to hold a rehearsal at line-up if allowed. 

More information about where we are lining up will be provided once the committee finalizes the parade.

Parade Route Parade formation will begin at the Greyhound Bus Station at the intersection of Liberty Avenue and 11th Street.  Staging will take place from the bus station and away from Downtown to 26th Street.  The parade will proceed from the intersection of Liberty and 11th Streets to Grant Street to the Boulevard of the Allies, where it will turn right.  Proceed on the Boulevard of the Allies to the Reviewing Stand at Stanwix Street, then disburse at Commonwealth Place.

Music- Download and print sheet music prior to arriving.  You can find the music on the website under your designated instrument tab on the left side of the homepage. Please be sure to download all of our regular tunes.

Food- Eating spots are all around downtown Pittsburgh.  Be sure to check out eateries online-before you arrive.

Restrooms- We believe that portable restrooms will be available at spots throughout the City but we are not sure.  We will try to find out more information from the parade committee. 

Registration Deadline – The registration deadline is February 28, 2018.  

Hotel – The Residence Inn Pittsburgh North Shore has a block of rooms available until 2/06/18 or until they are sold out.  Rooms can be reserved for 3/16/18 – 3/18/18.  Visit Residence Inn Pittsburgh North Shore to reserve your room.  Remember the NCAA Basketball Tournament is going on this same weekend, so rooms are limited. Please RSVP as soon as possible. The manager of this Residence Inn is a WVU Grad; she has agreed to supply rooms to us at a discounted price as long as there are rooms available. 

Equipment/Instrument Rental – We are working to provide rental equipment for this event.  If you can rent from a local music store (such as Music and Arts) or can borrow an instrument from a local school or a friend, please do so.  

You MUST let us know you need a rental by February 28, 2018. More information about this will be posted as it becomes available.  

Website – The Alumni Band website features music and forums that will be updated with content like maps, notes, and attending members.
